| Yoga on Maui :: Training Notes Maya Yoga Teacher Training The Universe Within The path of yoga is a journey toward the self. To embark on such a journey is a challenging yet rewarding undertaking. To put it simply; to practice yoga is to get to know oneself more intimately. The veil that lies between the conscious and the unconscious is worn thin. As the veil is worn thinner through the practice the unknown becomes known and the impossible becomes possible. The edges of our personality that we don’t see end up controlling our behavior much of the time. As we reveal and peel back the layers of the self we are less and less controlled by these edges. This is the on-going process, which leads to freedom. Becoming a great teacher has a lot to do with how you are serving the individual in the structure of a class. Having the space to look at many individuals at once, while leading a class is a challenging undertaking. Our training programs cover the practical information needed to provide an elightening experience for your students. And yet, the heart of these trainings is in how the practice is designed to help us get to know ourselves better. Personal practice is a yogi's place of learning. Maya Yoga trainings provide information and inspiration to support you in your individual journey into yoga. In addition, time spent in close relationship with your teachers provides invaluable insights into teacher/student relationship. Before becoming a teacher one must have a sound model of this relationship, an experience which can be rare in the manifestation of yoga in the west. Please take advantage of the opportunity to build a teacher/student relationship. These trainings are open to all who wish to deepen their relationship with yoga, regardless of teaching experience. We also welcome those who participate without any intentions of teaching. Yoga Alliance Eddie and Nicki have each been grand-fathered into the Yoga Alliance after documenting far more than the necessary 5000 hours of teaching experience. Maya Yoga is a Yoga Alliance Registered School. Therefore, after completion of a 200-hour training, students will recieve an application for RYT-200 Registry Status (Registered Yoga Teacher). With completion of part 1 & 2 of the 500 hour program, students may apply for RYT-500 Status. Maya Yoga Advanced Certification To teach under the Maya Yoga umbrella, students must have completed the 200 & 500 hour Maya Yoga Training programs, the Maya Yoga Continuing Studies program, as well as an additional 150 hours study with Nicki & Eddie (1000 total hours), have been teaching for at least two years, pass a written and practical exam, and complete any additional coursework as specified on an individual basis. Benefit from on-going teacher/student relationship and guidance for your studies at home and on Maui. Please contact us if you have questions about planning your course of study. |
